Looking back, I have this to regret, that too often when I loved, I did not say so.
~ David Grayson
Love relates to our heart chakra. I can’t even count how many people are in the state of forward flexion, which is the position of shoulders rounded and being slightly hunched forward. In other words, the closed chest position, where our heart chakra is located.
For some that’s a physical state, and for others, it’s emotional. It is not uncommon to experience emotional release during some yoga positions, especially chest openers, or those that expose the heart chakra. Over the years, during my personal journey, I have experienced the gamut. I’ve had a few tears, up to a good all-out cry, during a yoga class. Chest openers are vulnerable positions, all about allowing love in. You may be a giving, loving person, but it’s very different to receive that. When your self-esteem is low, the idea that someone could be so giving and loving to YOU, is something that you can’t even believe is possible. I know I couldn’t believe it was possible.
We want people to say, “I love you”, to us, because it means acceptance. On the other side of that, is the connotation that it has to commitment. If you say, “I love you”, it can push people away, and send men running for the hills. “OMG…I don’t wanna get married! I’m not ready for a committed relationship!” And maybe that can very well be the person’s implied meaning behind saying that, but that diminishes the actual words, “I love you”, by stating them with an ulterior motive behind them.
I equate it to “Namaste”. The light that shines within me, honors the light that shines within you. “I love you”. The person that you are is very special to me. I appreciate having you in my life. You bring me joy. No ulterior motives, completely unconditional.
So why are we so reluctant to use the “love” word? If you stop to think about it, you may use the word, “hate”, pretty freely. “I hate traffic”, “I hate spinach”, “I hate when people talk during a movie.” I think we should start looking at that, how often we say hate, and how little we say love.
“Love
transcends all space and time and love can make a little child smile.
We can't do it alone. We got to let love rule” ~ Lenny Kravitz
Health, happiness and LOVE,
Tami
By the way…The Green-Eyed Monster refers to the color of the Heart Chakra (Green), and it can be prosperous and harmonizing, or envious and greedy. The choice is yours…
